The Flu and You

As the weather cools and the holidays approach, we in Student Health start to think about influenza (flu).
Here is a six- step action plan to follow throughout the flu season.
1. Get your flu shot now
2. Wash your hands frequently throughout the day with soap and warm running water or alcohol-based sanitizer
3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
4. Stock up on sleep, water, fruits and vegetables
5. Exercise for 30 minutes or more five to six days per week
6. If you do get sick with a fever of 100 degrees F or higher, stay home from work, school and social activities. Call your doctor. Stay home until you have been fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medicine like Tylenol® or Advil®
For more information about flu, visit www.cdc.gov/flu.
