Happy Birthday to Petey, the Canisius mascot, who turns 81 today! To celebrate, the Golden Griffin is hosting a “tailgating” party from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., tonight, February 20, in the Patrick E. Lee Student Athletic Center. Then, during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Quinnipiac, Chartwells will serve up Petey’s birthday cake, courtside.

Nominations are open for the ALANA Achievement Award for graduating seniors! The deadline is Friday, February 28. The award will be presented at the Spring Honors Convocation. Students may self-nominate.
The ALANA Achievement Award recognizes a deserving African American, Latino/a American, Asian American or Native American senior, who maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher while demonstrating the Jesuit value of magis through significant volunteer or community participation.

Your Canisius synchronized swim team begins its quest for a 17th straight ECAC crown this weekend when they host Wheaton (Mass) in a dual meet. Figures competition will commence at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, while solo, duet, trio and team competitions will start at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

If the Olympics are making you anxious to watch some live hockey, then head on over to the Buffalo State Sports Arena as your Griffs host Robert Morris Saturday night in a key Atlantic Hockey battle. The two teams meet Friday night in Pittsburgh before returning to Buffalo for the series finale at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
All fans will receive a free mini-stick at the game, and there will be free vanilla and chocolate Frostys from Wendy’s at one of the intermissions.
