Campus Candids

Canisius’ Human Resources Department, in conjunction with Child & Family Services, hosted an enrichment seminar on stress and change last week.  The featured speaker, Jackie Stroh, discussed how to respond rather than react to the cycle of stress, by setting goals and priorities.

“Buy Fair, Be Fair” Fair

Come one, come all to the “Buy Fair, Be Fair” Fair on Thursday, February 20 from 3 – 5:00 p.m. in the Palisano Pavilion.  Sponsored by USA J.U.S.T.I.C.E. and the Office of Campus Ministry, the fair showcases goods from local vendors.  When you buy local, money stays right in the Western New York community.  Fair trade purchases also prevent the exploitation of workers around the world.

So stop by, enjoy some free food and merchandise, and take a few minutes to learn about the just business practices of local vendors.  (Attendees also earn points toward Petey’s Pride Week!)

For more information, contact Ashleigh Maciejewski at maciejea@canisius.edu.

Griffs Host Quinnipiac in a Battle for Second Place

Your Canisius men’s basketball team hosts Quinnipiac Thursday night at 7 p.m. in a contest that will have major implications in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings. Both the Griffs and the Bobcats enter this week’s play at 10-4 in league action, two games behind league-leading Iona. Canisius owns a win over Quinnipiac earlier in the season, so a victory on Thursday will give the Griffs the tie-breaker advantage. Manhattan also has a 10-4 league record.

Game time at the KAC is slated for 7 p.m. and only a limited number of reserve seats remain. Canisius will celebrate Petey’s 81st birthday during the game with a massive cake. Water bottles and pennants will also be given to early-arriving fans.

Thursday night and Saturday afternoon will be your final opportunities to watch the Griffs at home this season. Billy Baron was named the national player of the week after scoring 34 points in a win at Niagara and 40 in a triple overtime triumph at Siena.
