Reception for Ed Cogan

The campus is invited to attend a reception for Ed Cogan to wish him well in his much deserved retirement. Feel free to stop by on Thursday, November 29th from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in BA-06 across from the Facilities Office where, coffee and cake will be served.

Student Ensemble Performances

Our students have worked hard all semester and are ready to perform their end-of-semester ensemble concerts! Performances are this Friday, November 30, Saturday, December 1 and Monday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.
Friday’s performance features the Canisius College Concert Band, under the direction of Paul Biddle, Canisius College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dave Schiavone. The Canisius College Chorale will perform on Saturday, under the direction of Frank Scinta. On Monday, December 3  the performance features the Canisius College Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Ansgarius Aylward.

SMART Board User’s Group

A SMART Board User’s Group meeting will be held on Friday, November 30 in SH1017 conference room from 12:00-1:00 PM. The purpose of this group is to share ideas and learn new integration strategies for using the SMART Board in the classroom. If you don’t use a SMART Board but are interested in learning more, please feel free to attend. Each meeting a tip or trick for using SMART Boards will be shared. This meeting will highlight features of SMART Recorder and the Magic Pen.

Former Orlando Magic Coach to Speak

Stan Van Gundy, an assistant basketball coach at Canisius under Nick Macarchuk and former NBA boss with both the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, will be the guest speaker at the season’s first Cage Club Luncheon, December 4. The event will take place from Noon to 1:30 pm at the Buffalo Hyatt Regency. Cost is $25.00 and reservations can be made at gogriffs.com or by calling 888-2885. Golden Griffin head mentor Jim Baron will also talk about this year’s team.

In addition to speaking with the Cage Club, Van Gundy will address Canisius College student-athletes that evening from 7-8:30 pm at the Montante Cultural Center.

Canisius Care Open Enrollment Meetings

Open Enrollment for Canisius Care Flexible Spending Accounts

Open Enrollment for Canisius Care will begin on November 14 and run through December 7. A Representative from Independent Health will be here for open enrollment meetings on Tuesday, November 27 in Regis South and Wednesday, November 28 in Student Center Conference Room #205. Meetings will be held on both days at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

There is a change for 2013: The maximum allowable for the Unreimbursed Medical Account is reduced from $4,000.00 to $2,500.00. This is a requirement of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Account – also known as health care reform.

Anyone wishing to enroll for 2013 must complete an enrollment form and return the form to Human Resources. Enrollment forms can be found at http://www.canisius.edu/hr/forms/ or in the Human Resources Office.

Current participants in the plan please note: An Enrollment form MUST be completed for 2013.
DO NOT discard your PowerPay card. PowerPay cards are reloaded at the end of 2012 with your 2013 election.

If you do not wish to re-enroll, email Dawn Rotterman at rottermd@canisius.edu stating that you are declining for 2013.
