On Thursday, March 3 from 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the lower lobby on the first floor of Old Main, candidates in the special education program at Canisius College will be joined be members of People, Inc.’s YALT group (Young Adults Living in Transition) to ask members of the Canisius College community to pledge their support not to use the “R” word. The word “retard(ed)” hurts millions of people with intellectual disabilities, and their families and friends.
All Canisius faculty, staff and students are invited to take the following pledge: “I pledge and support the elimination of the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.” Thank you for your support.
