The Health and Human Performance Department is offering a six-week workshop series for participants with ongoing health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, arthritis and many others.  Sessions start Saturday (September 18) and continue September 25, and October 2, 16, 23 and 30 from from 9:30 a.m. to Noon at the Health and Human Performance Center in Demerly Hall (2365 Main Street, Buffalo, NY).

Taught by specially-trained volunteer leaders, some of whom have health conditions themselves, the workshops cover a new topic each week and provide opportunities for interaction and group problem-solving.  The workshops help participants:

  • Find better ways of dealing with pain and fatigue
  • Discover easy exercises to help improve or maintain strength and energy
  • Learn the appropriate use of medications
  • Improve nutrition
  • Talk effectively with family, friends and health professionals
  • Understand new treatment choices
  • Feel better about life
