Seeding and playoff position will be on the line this weekend at the Demske Sports Complex as the Canisius softball team hosts Fairfield and Iona.

The Griffs meet Fairfield at Noon on Saturday and then host Iona at Noon on Sunday.  The Griffs are 8-2 in MAAC play, while Iona enters weekend play in first place with a 10-0 mark. Fairfield resides in fourth at 5-3, while Niagara, who will also play the Gaels and Stags this weekend, is in third with a 6-2 record.

Lizzy Gatto ’12 (team leading .406 batting average) and Katie Medina ’13 (.304 batting average) were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for their efforts last week as the Golden Griffins went 4-0 to stretch the team’s winning streak to seven. Gatto was named MAAC Player of the Week while Medina was recognized as MAAC Rookie of the Week.
