Ignatian Scholars Philosophy Colloquium

Today (April 22) at 4 p.m. in the President’s Board Room (Bagen Hall), Devonya N. Havis, PhD, assistant professor of philosophy, will deliver a lecture entitled “Arts of Existence: Locating Black Women’s Philosophies.”  All are welcome to attend.

Saturday (April 24) Is Spring Canisius Community Day

Campus Ministry’s Spring Canisius Community Service Day is Saturday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. as part of Ignatian Scholarship Weekend.  The day will include a continental breakfast sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations and will conclude with a barbecue lunch provided and sponsored by Chartwell’s Dining Service.

Canisius Community Day partners members of the college community with non-profit organizations in the City of Buffalo to perform acts of service.  We are full and at capacity.

Baseball To Host Rider / Kids Day Is Sunday (April 24)

The first place Golden Griffin baseball team (24-14/8-1) hosts Rider (18-15/7-5) in a key three game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference set this weekend.  Saturday’s doubleheader begins at Noon, while Sunday’s single game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.  The Broncs have won seven of their past nine.

Sunday is also the baseball team’s 4th Annual Kid’s Day.  Children, 12 and under, will be invited onto the field after the 2 p.m. game to take grounders, participate in batting practice and run the bases.  Each child should bring a glove and a bat.  They will all receive an autographed baseball and a hot dog and drink coupon.  Please RSVP at Ext. 6707.

Spring 2010 Educational Technology Tutorials

This month’s educational technology tutorial, “Screencasting for Demonstrations and Lectures,” will be held Tuesday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m. and Thursday, April 29 at 3:30 p.m.  It is one of the many free educational technology tutorials available covering an array of helpful tools that advance student learning.  The tutorials are conducted completely on-line, via a Web conferencing system.
