From John J. Hurley, executive vice president and vice president for college relations

I am pleased to announce the appointment of a transition team to advise me on matters relating to the presidential transition over the next 15 months. As we know, I will be only the third president of Canisius in the last 44 years, and we have had no recent experience with a presidential transition. While I have been at the college for 13 years, I think we need to see this transition as an opportunity to signal to our campus community, and to our alumni and stakeholders, that there is something new happening at Canisius. We need to think about using this transition in ways that could benefit the college.

I am grateful for the willingness of the following people to serve on the Presidential Transition Team:

Rev. John Bucki, S.J., Director of Campus Ministry
Ann Celani, Board of Trustees
Scott Chadwick, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dianna Civello, Interim Associate Vice President for Development
Ellen Conley, PhD, Vice President for Student Affairs
David Farrugia, EdD, Professor of Counseling and Human Services
Terri Mangione, PhD, Dean of Students
Matt Mulville, Associate Dean and Director of Residence Life
Jerome Neuner, PhD, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
Mary O’Sullivan, PhD, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Debra Park, Associate Vice President for Public Relations
Patrick Richey, Vice President for Business & Finance
Erica Sammarco, Assistant to the President-designate
Richard Wall, PhD, Professor of Economics and Finance

I have asked Erica Sammarco, newly designated as Assistant to the President, to serve as the coordinator for the Presidential Transition Team. I will also be meeting with a separate group of student leaders on transition issues, and I expect to appoint two students from that group to the Presidential Transition Team.

If any members of the Canisius community have suggestions for items that should be considered by the Presidential Transition Team, please feel free to contact me or any member of the team.
