A screening of Katyn, a film by Andrzej Wajda, will be held today (April 16) at 3 p.m., in Regis Room North to celebrate the lives of the President of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, his wife, and more than 90 political, army, church, and community leaders killed in the plane crash on April 10, 2010.  The official delegation was on their way to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the massacre in Katyn and other nearby regions, where the Russian Secret Police murdered over 20,000 Polish Army officers and intellectuals at the beginning of the World War II.

The event has been of utmost importance because recently the Russian government admitted to committing the crime which for a long time was attributed to the Germans. For additional information about the film, please contact Margaret Stefanski, PhD, at stefansm@canisius.edu.
