The Women and Gender Studies program invites you to the annual Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award Celebration. The award ceremony will take place with appetizers and drinks on Thursday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge. The event is free and open to the public.

The Dr. I. Joan Lorch Award for Women and Gender Studies honors individuals who have made significant contributions to women and who exemplify the pursuit of liberation and justice regarding sex, gender and sexuality. This year we celebrate three outstanding award winners in the following categories:

Canisius Student Award: Elizabeth Sawka ’16.

Canisius Colleague Award: Melissa Mosko PhD, assistant professor, philosophy

Community Award: The ‘Di Gamma Five’

Each of the award winners will deliver a brief speech outlining why the fight for justice in sex and gender is vital in our world today.
