Ignatian Scholarship Day

The 16th annual Ignatian Scholarship Day (ISD) is Wednesday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

This event is an opportunity for students to submit accomplished work from the current or previous semester for an exhibit, presentation or performance in a conference environment.

Students can apply for ISD 2023 using the online application located in myCanisius.

Applications will be accepted Wednesday, February 22 through Monday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m. and faculty members are asked to review and endorse applications by Thursday, March 30.

As a reminder, classes that normally meet on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday pattern will not meet on Ignatian Scholarship Day. Classes that normally meet on Wednesday only or on a Monday and Wednesday pattern will still meet on April 26.

Event Services Names New Assistant Director

The Office of Event Services is pleased to welcome Gil Jacobs as its the new assistant director.

Gil joins us from NCCC where he served as the theatre’s technical director, as well as an adjunct professor for Avid Protools for film production and Veraview, an audio-visual technological company.  He has many years of experience in audio engineering, lighting and event production.

Gil has a bachelor of science degree in music industry and two master of arts degrees: one in sound design and the other in music scoring and composition both for visual media.

Please join us in welcoming Gil to Canisius!

Ignatian Scholarship Day 2022

The 15th annual Ignatian Scholarship Day will take place on Wednesday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ISD 2022 will highlight the achievements of more than 100 students in various forms of expression. The schedules and project compilations will be available online under the Ignatian Scholarship Day tab through the Academic Affairs community page beginning April 13.

Volunteers Needed for Ignatian Scholarship Day 2022

The Office of Event Services is looking for volunteers for Ignatian Scholarship Day on Wednesday, April 20 in Science Hall.

Volunteers will serve as timekeepers for the digital/paper presentations, if the faculty/staff mentor is unavailable or assist with poster sessions,

As a timekeeper, volunteers will introduce the presentation and the student scholars, and keep time during the presentation.  Students have 10 – 15 minutes to present with approximately three minutes allotted for fielding questions before audience and presenters rotate out of the classroom.  Classroom (multimedia/paper presentations) sessions run from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (10 – 10:50 a.m., 12 – 12:50 p.m., 2 – 2:50 p.m. and 4 – 4:20 p.m.), and each session is 20 minutes in length.

During the poster sessions, volunteers will assist students in setting up their posters, handout needed supplies, and/or check students into ISD. Poster sessions run from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (9 – 9:50 a.m., 11 – 11:50 a.m., 1 – 1:50 p.m., and 3 – 3:50 p.m.).

Ignatian Scholarship Day

This event is an opportunity for every student to submit accomplished work from the current or previous semester for an exhibit, presentation or performance in a conference environment.

Students can apply for ISD 2022 using the online application located in myCanisius. The types of presentations students can choose from are poster displays, oral papers, digital presentations, two-or-three dimensional art and artistic performances.

Applications will be accepted Monday, February 21 through Friday, March 18 at 5:00 p.m.

Faculty members are asked to review and endorse applications by Wednesday, March 23.
