Campus Candid

Members of the campus community showed their team spirit on Monday, October 18 – taking the Human Resources Department up on its offer to wear their best Buffalo Bills’ apparel in advance of that night’s game.

Pictured (above, left) Drs. Sue Margulis and Jennifer Snekser, from the Department of Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation, cheer for the Bills!

Pictured (above, right) Members of the Office of Institutional Advancement show off their Bills gear outside of Lyons Hall. Looks as though they were also photo-bombed by none other than Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley.

Beasley is shown here with (l-r): Brandon Bielecki, assistant director of annual giving and stewardship, Erin Zack, director of alumni engagement, Courtney Sullivan, leadership annual giving officer and Summer Handzlik, senior director of annual giving and stewardship.

Don’t forget to wear your favorite Buffalo Bills gear to work before each game. Take pictures and then share them with us in The Dome.

It’s “More than a Game”

Canisius athletics announced on October 18 the launch of its “More Than A Game” fall fundraising campaign in an effort to support the college’s 20 varsity programs and the school’s 417 student-athletes.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, the Canisius Athletic Department has been challenged to find new ways to deliver on the promise of providing our student-athletes a quality educational and athletic experience.  At the same time, the costs to running a competitive NCAA Division I athletic program within the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) have increased dramatically, not only because of the pandemic but also due to rapidly rising operational expenses.

“For years, our program has relied on the generosity of alumni, family and friends to help provide the resources necessary to allow our student-athletes and coaches to perform at their highest level,” Canisius Director of Athletics Bill Maher said. “As we return to a sense of normalcy this year, we are still be challenged to heavily rely on our self-generated revenue, which includes support from the Blue & Gold Fund. We need our Golden Griffin family to support us in our quest to provide a quality Canisius athletic experience for our student-athletes, while also helping to position our programs for future success.”
