The Canisius men’s hockey team begins its home portion of competition on Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. against the U.S. National Development U-18 team at the LECOM Harborcenter.
This is the same team that has sent players like Jack Eichel, Patrick Kane and Jack Hughes to the NHL. Several members of this year’s team are projected to be high draft picks in the next NHL draft. The U.S. team will be playing Cornell tomorrow, Saturday, October 26 before traveling to Buffalo to meet the Griffs on Sunday.

The Western Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (APHERD) and the Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (P/HETE) program at Canisius College hosted Darryl Daily, associate of instructional services for physical education in the New York State Education Department (NYSED), on Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22.
Daily, along with Clancy Seymour ’97, MS, ’99, EdD, assistant professor of kinesiology, co-presented to more than 60 physical and health educators on a new version of the New York State physical education learning standards available for public comment this fall. Daily and Seymour have served on the taskforce to revise these standards. Daily also visited P/HETE candidates in class to discuss the profession. The event was well received and continues to highlight the merits of the P/HETE program at the college.

The Counseling and Human Services Department would like to extend a warm invite to all those interested in attending its upcoming counseling seminar entitled “Life, Love and Loss: The New Normal.” The seminar will take place on Saturday, November 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Grupp Fireside Lounge.
A free breakfast will be provided during registration. The cost is $25 for students (with a valid student ID) and $45 for professionals.
