Data Analytics Seminar

Jim Moore, associate director for Global ITS at Praxair, will present a seminar entitled “The IT Perspective of Data Analytics in Manufacturing/Supply Chain Applications” on Wednesday, February 20 at 5:00 p.m. in Science Hall room 1028. Moore’s talk will offer insights on the IT and data analytics efforts at Praxair. The seminar will be a concrete example of how data analytics has a direct operational impact in an industrial setting.

This presentation will provide business and IT perspectives for implementing data analytics using two common industrial gas supply chain applications, bulk (tank) and packaged (cylinder) gas distribution. From the business perspective, this will cover large scale operational real time data collection, refining data for use in analytics, examples of Tableau reporting of key performance indicators and the use of analytics in process optimization. From a practitioner’s viewpoint, the IT overview will provide examples along with high level checklists for data migration and maintenance, to ensure both operational and analytics systems support a high availability, production environment.

The event is open to the campus community.
