New Video to Premiere at Accepted Students Day

The Marketing & Brand Engagement team is excited to unveil a new video that will debut at Accepted Students Day, this Sunday, March 31.

The piece, which has been designed to support Canisius’ ongoing undergraduate recruitment efforts, centers on the college’s differentiating attributes and features faculty, students and alumni describing what makes a Canisius education so special.

The video was a collaboration between the Marketing & Brand Engagement team and PicSix, a Buffalo-based video production company. We would like to extend a special thanks to Drs. Robinson and Chanderbhan, Hannah Latragna ’19, Toby Patrick ’19, Kendall Franz ’16 and Jeff Spencer ’17 for their willing participation.

On Wednesday, March 27, members of the Buffalo community learned about medieval art and architecture with Eileen Sullivan, professor of fine arts at Canisius College.

Part of the Institute for Classical and Medieval Studies (ICMS) Lifelong Learners Center, this six-week course discusses topics such as illuminated manuscripts, art of the pilgrimage and cathedrals. This past Wednesday, the class examined a replica of The Book of Kells housed in the library. Past courses examined heroes, the development of the British monarchy, the Seven Wonders of the World and the Persian Wars.

ICMS is planning for the 2019-20 season. Visit the ICMS website for more information about the Lifelong Learners’ courses and other events and programs as they become available.

Campus Climate Survey Results Presented Today, March 29

Last spring, the college conducted a campus climate survey with a focus on race. Over the fall semester, a group of dedicated faculty, staff and students worked to collate and analyze the responses.

Today, Friday, March 29, members of this committee along with Margaret McCarthy, PhD, vice president for academic affairs, will present the results of the survey to administrators and staff from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Regis Room, and discuss together how the campus community should respond.

The desire is that all Canisius students feel welcome and experience an atmosphere of respect and encouragement. All are welcome to attend!
