Michelle Rua and Beth Sardina ’07, MBA ’09,  from HealthNow NY will be presenting a seminar on Tuesday, November 13 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Science Hall 1013B on what we can learn about the flu using data analytics to study healthcare claims.

This case study will cover a real-world example of data analytics at a health insurer. Discussions include topics of how to approach a problem and how sound judgement must be exercised. The many steps involved will also be presented, including extracting data from a data warehouse, cleansing and validating the data, summarizing and analyzing the data and creating a final report that can be given to the end-user. The presentation wraps up with recommendations for further learning.

The event is free and open to all members of the Canisius community.
