A group of students, alumni, faculty and staff joined the Jesuit community in Loyola Hall on Thursday, November 15 for Mass and an evening discussion on the film “Romero” to commemorate the recent canonization of St. Archbishop Oscar Romero.

The Dome Takes a Brief Hiatus

Happy Thanksgiving from the Office of College Communications!

Due to the holiday closing, The Dome will not publish on Friday, November 23 or Monday, November 26.  Any and all submissions received in the interim will appear in the Wednesday, November 28 edition of The Dome.

Endowed Donor Reception

The Endowed Donor Reception was held on Tuesday, November 13 in Science Hall. More than 38 students and 87 donors were present to hear music by the CrescenDONT’s and inspirational speeches by donors and students. Canisius saw an increase in endowed gifts from the previous year by 64 percent, awarded an excess of $3.5 million in endowed scholarships and $1.3 million in endowed programs during the 2017-18 academic year.

The Canisius United Way Campaign has been extended and will run through today, November 21. The donation button can be accessed on the MyCanisius portal page. Your pledge does not carry over from last year, so please take the following steps to make your pledge:

    5. Click [Email My Information]
    6. Check your Work Email inbox for an email from
    7. Click the reset password e-Pledge link in the email (will expire within 24 hours)
    8. Create a new password and click [Save]
    9. Click the [Continue] button

Thesis Defense Week

The All-College Honors Program announces its Honors Thesis Defense Week, which runs next Tuesday, November 27 – Friday, November 30. Topics include hazing, climate change, eSports and the opioid epidemic in Buffalo. The defenses are free and open to the public, and primarily take place in Science Hall 1017. See the attached document for more information.
