“Etched in Stone” Art History Lecture this Week
Program welcomes Daniel Sinclair
Please join us for an inspiring lecture by Daniel Sinclair. During his lecture, entitled “Etched in Stone” on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at noon in Regis Room, Sinclair will recount his experiences as an internationally celebrated sculptor.
In 1970, Sinclair earned an MFA from Pratt Institute, and conceived the idea of going to Pietrasanta, Italy to discover if there was anything further that he could learn about stone carving in the commercial studios there. After he apprenticed for five years in the studio of Pasquino Pasquini, he embarked on a dynamic career as an artist whose works grace many cities in the United States in the varied forms of architectural restoration, portraiture and multi-media works. Sinclair’s lecture will offer insight into his apprenticeship in Italy and his approaches to restoration and contemporary creations.

Griffs host Nationally Televised Game on Friday
Men’s lacrosse hosts Monmouth for exciting matchup
For the very first time, Canisius men’s lacrosse hosts a game at the Demske Sports Complex that will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. ESPNU studio host Matt Schick calls the play-by-play alongside color commentator Matt Ward. Schick is a native of Rochester and graduated from Colorado.
The Griffs host Monmouth at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 27 in the game that has a direct bearing on the MAAC’s final standings and playoff matchups. Canisius (6-7;3-2) and the Hawks (6-7;3-2) are tied for third in the league with this one last game remaining on each team’s schedule. The loser will face the top seed, Quinnipiac, in next week’s MAAC Tournament, while the winner will face-off against the number two seed – Detroit Mercy.
There will be Golden Griffin popsockets given away to the first 500 fans. It’s also Dollar Dog Day with all hot dogs being sold at the concession stands for only a buck.
Tickets are $5 for faculty and staff with Canisius ID. Children under 10 are also $5, while all other seats sell for $7.

TIAA Representative on Campus
Discuss retirement goals
Greg Tedone, financial consultant for TIAA, will be on campus Tuesday, May 15 in the Student Center Executive Conference Room for individual counseling sessions. April 30 Faculty Meetup is Cancelled
Are you interested in a summer meetup?
The Center for Online Learning & Innovation must cancel its April 30 Faculty Meetup. However, COLI will offer faculty meetups in the fall 2018 semester, and possibly the summer if there is interest.
Meetups feature lively conversation over good food on topics of importance to professors. COLI Director Mark Gallimore is considering a faculty meetup specifically for faculty teaching online and hybrid courses to be hosted sometime in the summer, perhaps on a weekday evening in early June.
