Sustainability From Rio to Buffalo

Corral

Thais Corral, a world renowned leader in sustainability, will be providing a public lecture at Canisius at the Montante Cultural Center on Thursday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. To register for the event, email Coral Snodgrass, PhD, professor of management, at snodgras@canisius.edu.  Students are free with their Canisius ID.

Corral will discuss how the 2016 Olympic host city of Rio de Janeiro opened the grounds for the demands of the people in the local communities to be included in the solutions for chronic problems they are facing – access to clean water, pollution and excessive traffic.

Attendees will learn the story of a famous non-profit in the outskirts of Rio named “SINAL do Vale,” which has played a large role on a local level to address these problems in unique ways; a model from which Buffalo and the Great Lakes Region can learn.
