Baseball Alums Score Visit from President Hurley

Peter and Rita Carfagna recently hosted President John J. Hurley and his wife, Maureen, for some minor league baseball action in Willowick, OH.  The Carfagnas own the Lake County Captains, the Class-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, for whom former Griffins Devon Stewart ’15 and Jon Fitzsimmons ’13 play.

The Captains took on the Lansing Lugnuts, the Class-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, for whom former Griff Connor Panas ’15 plays.

Prior to the first pitch, the three former Griffs joined President Hurley and Maureen on the field for a pre-game photo.

Women’s Business Center Hosts Entrepreneurial Workshop

entrepreneurial-workshop-pictureAre you ready to start your own business?  The Women’s Business Center (WBC) is hosting an Entrepreneurial Workshop on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. The WBC is located at 2365 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14214.

The workshop includes a comprehensive self-assessment, advice and guidance from our experienced business coach and a question and answer session.

The fee is $30 and includes your own hardcover entrepreneurial book to take home, a customized profile listing your entrepreneurial strengths, suggestions to manage your challenges, as well as the opportunity to engage and network with a roomful of like-minded women. Light refreshments will be served and free parking is available.

Homecoming Tent Party Faculty and Staff Discount

homecomingThe Office of Alumni Engagement is offering a discount for faculty and staff members for the Homecoming Tent Party! Pre-sale tickets for faculty and staff are $25 for the event on Friday, September 23 from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. in the Quad.  Admission at the door is $40. The evening includes live music, dinner buffet, open bar of beer and wine, food trucks and more!

Admissions Fall Open House Dates Set

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is offering two fall Open House dates to prospective students. Students and their families are invited to visit on either Saturday, October 22 or Sunday, November 13. Open House is a chance for students to learn more about Canisius College, speak with faculty in their major of interest, hear from admissions and financial aid personnel and tour the campus.

If you know of any prospective high school students who are interested in Canisius, please feel free to share these visit dates with them and encourage them to attend! Students can sign up online at www.canisius.edu/visit.
