This past week, a recent Canisius graduate, Mollie Morgan ’15, volunteered at two SURF camps for children with autism in Port Aransas, Texas. Learning through Sun, Sand and SURF is a social skills curriculum developed to be used in schools and in Surf Camps for students on the autism spectrum. Campers learn how to surf with their families, participate in arts and crafts activities, various beach games and learn how to build sandcastles by a professional sandcastle builder.

Pictured here are volunteers for the first camp.

This year marks the seventh anniversary of the camp. Lauren Cavanaugh, PhD, one of the camp directors, is always looking for energetic volunteers for the camp each summer.

For more information, please visit their Facebook page or contact Dr. Cavanaugh at Ext. 8264 or at cavanau7@canisius.edu.
