What’s the Difference Between a Work Order and a Project Request?

We’ve received questions regarding when to use the facilities project request form and when to use the work order request system. We hope this will help clarify the process:

Requests that require repair or maintenance of existing assets should be submitted through the work order system. (Examples include but are not limited to: doors and windows not operating properly, broken window treatments, broken furniture, damaged walls, plumbing issues, housekeeping requests, etc.)

Requests that affect the use, assignment, renovation or build-out of space or the replacement of finishes, furnishing or equipment should be submitted on a facilities project request form. (Examples include but are not limited to: flooring replacement, furniture replacement, office moves, requests for space, reconfiguring space, renovating space, remodeling space, room painting, signage, space for displays and exhibits, etc.)

Both Work Order requests and Facilities Project Request forms can be submitted through links on the portal.

Log in to My Canisius. From the menu on the left side of the screen, move your cursor over to ONLINE TOOLS to Email, D2L & Services. Drag your cursor down and select All Applications & Services. From the APPLICATION toolbar select:

To enter a Work Order -OR-

To enter a Facilities Project Request.

If you experience any problems accessing either application, please contact the Help Desk at Ext. 8340 for assistance. If you have questions related to completing the form, please do not hesitate to contact the Facilities Management Office at Ext. 2250 for assistance.

Save the Date for Sarah Mendola’s Retirement Party

The Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library invites the Canisius community to a gathering honoring our executive associate, Sarah Mendola, upon her retirement. Please mark your calendars and join the librarians and staff, Monday, August 3 in the Faculty Lounge (OM-109) between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. to celebrate Sarah and wish her good luck and farewell.

Sarah joined Canisius in May 1995 as a secretary for personnel (now human resources). By 1997 she was secretary and console attendant for ITS, and then in fall of 2000 became secretary for library and information services. Shortly thereafter, she became secretary for the associate vice president of library and ITS. She was promoted in 2007 to executive associate for associate vice president of library and ITS, and remains in that position today for the director of library.

Light refreshments will be served at the gathering. For more information, contact Kathleen DeLaney, archivist and special collections librarian at Ext. 8421 or at delaneyk@canisius.edu.
