Attend Campus Ministry’s Summer Picnic

Campus Ministry invites you to its annual summer picnic on Wednesday, July 8.  The event will be held in the Palisano Pavilion from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  A mass will be held before the picnic at 5:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.

See Father Tunney’s Exhibit

Rev. Michael Tunney, S.J., has a new painting in the Year of Consecrated Life show. It is on view at the Villa Maria College Library, 240 Pine Ridge Road, Buffalo.

Exhibit hours are Tuesday, May 19 – Friday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 26 – Friday, May 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A reception with music and poetry was held Tuesday, May 19 to celebrate the opening of the show.

Education Students in Spain

Seven candidates in the Teacher Education Program are enjoying an exciting professional and personal adventure in Oviedo, Spain. For three weeks, the students are international education interns working as English as a second language (ESL) teachers at Colegio de San Ignacio (CSI), a preK-12 Jesuit school.

By day, the students collaborate with the outstanding faculty of the CSI English Department to develop and teach ESL lessons in language, science, art and physical education. By night, they are hosted by wonderful families who immerse them in the amazing culture of this beautiful Spanish medieval town.

Julie Henry, PhD, Receives Recognition Award

Jeffrey R. Lindauer, PhD., dean of the School of Education and Human Services, (SEHS) presented an award to Julie J. Henry, PhD, in recognition and appreciation of her nine years as department chair in teacher education. The plaque was presented on Tuesday, May 14 in the presence of Dr. Henry’s colleagues on the Dean’s Advisory Council for SEHS at the last meeting of the 2014-2015 academic year.

Dr. Henry will continue her professorial work in the Department of Graduate Education and Leadership as director of the Differentiated Instruction Program. Dr. Michele Marable will become chair of the Teacher Education Department in the 2015-2016 year.
