Campus Community Celebrates with Gary Everett

The campus community filled the Montante Cultural Center on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate Gary Everett’s service to the college and wish him well in his retirement.  The “police-themed” event included a buffet decorated with caution tape, flashing lights and towers of donuts.  Before formal remarks by President Hurley and Dr. Mangione, the group enjoyed a video entitled “A Day in the Life of Gary Everett,” produced by Darren Canham ’15.

Volunteer for Commencement 2015

Please consider volunteering at our 2015 Commencement ceremonies. Canisius College commencement ceremonies are a memorable experience for our students and their families. We still need marshals for both ceremonies and shuttle van drivers for Saturday.

The Graduate Commencement Ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Koessler Athletic Center. The Undergraduate Commencement Ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center.

We encourage new-comers to volunteer. Two informational meetings will be held on Monday, May 11. The first session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the second session will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Student Center, Regis North. Everything you need to know about volunteering for commencement will be discussed.

Please contact Kathy Peter at Ext. 2121 or Lisa Fischer at Ext. 2120 in the Academic Affairs Office by the end of Friday, May 8 to volunteer.

Qualtrics to Replace Checkbox

Qualtrics is coming to Canisius College! Qualtrics is an advanced toolset for conducting online surveys and collecting data. This service is easy to use, and includes extensive options for processing, reporting, and exporting data, too. To learn about Qualtrics, visit its tutorial site at qualtrics.com/university.

Due to support, usability and reliability concerns surrounding Checkbox version 5.6, the FacTS Center began researching replacements last year. Because it’s powerful, reliable and easy to use, we chose Qualtrics to replace Checkbox and become Canisius’s advanced survey application.

During the summer, FacTS Center staff will work closely with Checkbox users to transition their work to Qualtrics. We hope to have Qualtrics up and running by July, and Checkbox will be phased out of use at Canisius College by October 2015. For questions concerning this process, contact Mark Gallimore, via email or telephone at Ext. 8353.
