Johnson is Sworn In

Administrators, faculty, staff and students were in attendance last week to see Wil Johnson be sworn in as the new director of public safety for Canisius College.“I know he will do a great job,” said Gary Everett. “I can already tell he has a great feel for campus law enforcement after his 30-plus years of service in Rochester.”

Also in attendance was Kimberly Beaty, deputy commissioner, Buffalo Police Department and Carmen Menza, E-District chief, Buffalo Police Department.

Softball to Host MAAC Championships This Week

Your Golden Griffin softball team, under the direction of first-year coach Kim Griffin, clinched the top seed for this year’s MAAC Tournament by virtue of a sweep at Rider on Sunday afternoon.

As a result, the Griffs will welcome five other teams to Buffalo for the four-day, 11-game event, which starts Wednesday afternoon. All games will be held at the Demske Sports Complex with ticket prices set at $5.00 per day.

Canisius will play its first game in the double elimination bracket at 11:30 a.m. against the winner of Wednesday’s 2:30 p.m. game between Siena and Monmouth.

Game times each day are as follows:
Wednesday, May 6 – Noon and 2:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 7 – 9:00 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.; 2:00 p.m.; 4:30 p.m.
Friday, May 8 – 11:00 a.m.; 1:30 p.m.; 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 9 – Noon and 2:30 pm. (if necessary)
