“Count your Steps” Begins Today (March 26)

The college, in conjunction with Independent Health, is introducing a walking challenge beginning Monday (March 26). It involves an 8-week pedometer based walking program that encourages participants to increase their number of steps. A pedometer will be provided to assist employees  in tracking steps each day.

It is not necessary to participate in a structured walking program.  What’s necessary is wearing a pedometer and completing the walking log and submitting it weekly to Samantha Taylor, the graduate assistant supporting the wellness initiative or Dawn Rotterman. For those that exercise in another form, a conversion chart is available on the GrifFit web page.

To help achieve fitness goals, the college will sponsor a walk three times a week, from noon to 1:00 p.m. Interested walkers can meet in front of the Library at noon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays beginning March 26.

If you wish to participate in this program, please contact Dawn Rotterman at rottermd@canisius.edu or at Ext. 3151.
