All are invited to the next Physics Cafe on Monday, March 19 at 3 p.m. in Horan-O’Donnell Room 103 where a demonstration of the chess robot developed by faculty and students in the Department of Physics and Department of Computer Science will be held.

Physics/computer science majors Michael Lanighan and Jerod Sikorskyj, who were supervised by Debra Burhans, PhD, and Robert Selkowitz, PhD, built a robot to play a game of chess against a human component.  The robot is built out of Legos and the “brains” or software was also developed by the students.  The audience is invited to learn about how the robot works and to challenge it to a game.
