Chartwell’s Summer Cookout

As part of our “Pardon Our Dust” campaign we are offering the “$3 Meal Deal Cookout” every Wednesday from June 8 – August 3 served from 11:45 a.m -1:15 p.m  in the Economou Dining Hall. The “$3 Meal Deal” (tax included) will feature two char-grilled hot dogs, a bag of chips or side dish, fruit, and a soda or water. What a deal!

Flag Retirement Ceremony June 12

Forest Lawn cemetery will host its 3rd Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, June 12 from 5:00 – 8 p.m. This reverent and respectful ceremony will be held near the gravesite of Buffalo school teacher and Flag Day co-founder Sara Hinson. Members of the Public Safety Department will attend the ceremony. If any faculty or staff have any worn flags at home that they would like us to bring, contact Gary Everett at Ext. 3197 or everett@canisius.edu, to have the officers pick them up.

Developing Larkin District Lecture June 22

The Wehle School of Business and the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society, in collaboration with the Larkin Development Corporation present “Developing the Larkin District: Past, Present and Into the Future” at the Montante Cultural Center on Wednesday, June 22. Presenters including Howard Stanger, PhD, professor of management and history, and three other experts on the Larkin District and Larkin Company will discuss the Larkin District’s role in the history of Buffalo’s manufacturing district.

This lecture is free and open to the public. A pre-event reception begins at 6 p.m. and the lecture is from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. For more information, contact Howard Stanger at Ext. 2649 or stangerh@canisius.edu.

Summer Institute For Catholic School Leaders June 28-29

On Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29, the second annual Summer Institute for Catholic School Leaders will be held in the Montante Cultural Center. The institute is designed to guide schools through a model of school based planning, focused on the educational pillars of instruction and assessment. Both elementary and secondary strands will be offered.

Teams of school stakeholders, including principals, teachers, board/council members, pastors and canonical administrators, as well as interested faculty, staff and students are welcomed to join us.

Registration is limited to 125 registrants and will close on June 15. Cost for participation is $100. Please visit the Summer Institute website for more information.

Blue & Gold Golf Classic Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the 14th Annual Blue & Gold Golf Classic presented by Catholic Health Athleticare. Single golfers and foursomes can sign up at www.gogriffs.com. Cost is $175 per individual golfer or $650 per foursome. Fee includes golf and cart, lunch, dinner, driving range and complimentary beverages. This year’s event will be held on Monday, August 1 at Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg. The tournament sells out annually and benefits Canisius College Athletics.
