The Canisius College Senior Operating Team kicked off its first objective on Tuesday, October 26, with the launch of the organizational review process.

The organizational review is an in-depth study of the college’s operation that will result in various recommendations to strengthen the college’s efficiency, reduce expenses and identify new revenue sources across the college.
“The organizational review is one element in the overall strategic planning process,” explained President John J. Hurley. “The goal of the process is to look for creative ways to improve how we do business, as well as to uncover new revenue opportunities across campus.”
The 10 teams responsible for the study are comprised of more than 100 administrators, faculty and students, who will bring to the process multidisciplinary and cross-functional perspectives.
Hurley noted that an organization sees progress when people work together. He thanked the group for coming with “energy and enthusiasm” for the task at hand.
The study will be completed in 10 areas: Academic Administration, Non-Academic Administration, Student Engagement, Athletics, Facilities Utilization, Library and Information Technology, Institutional Advancement, Auxiliary Services, Professional Studies and Integrated Marketing.
The group analyses will be presented to the Senior Operating Team, who will finalize the recommendations for the president. President Hurley will then make final decisions regarding team recommendations and determine which recommendations will be presented to the Board of Trustees.
“The crucial success factor is that the organizational review will strengthen administrative support for the academic and administrative areas of the college and to ensure that our operations are optimized to support our highest priorities,” said Hurley.
Howard Teibel, president of Teibel Inc., is the facilitator of the Organizational Review Process. Teibel, a consultant, has significant experience working with higher education institutions to accomplish similar goals.
