Faculty and staff who have sensitive information of any kind on a notebook computer should contact ITS to have the data encrypted.  Encryption allows ITS to “scramble” the contents of the computer’s hard disk, making it unreadable without the proper passphrase.  If the computer is lost, stolen, or damaged, the data will be inaccessible to anyone who tries to read it.

Also, a reminder – become a fan of Canisius Information Security on Facebook and register for a drawing at the end of the month for an iPod Nano or an iTunes gift card!
