Scott A. Chadwick, PhD, vice president for academic affairs at Canisius College, announces the appointment of Michael J. Pardales, PhD, as dean of the School of Education and Human Services, following a national search. Pardales replaces Margaret C. McCarthy, PhD, who stepped down from the position to return to the faculty of the college’s Department of Graduate Education and Leadership. Pardales will assume the position of dean on July 1, 2010.

Previously, Pardales was associate professor and chair of the Department of Education, School of Education and Human Services, at the University of Michigan-Flint. He also served as director of Graduate Education Programs from 2008-2009 and assistant chair of the Department of Education in 2006.

“Michael brings to Canisius a dedication to our core mission and a robust balance among student-focused teaching, applied research and a willingness to partner with others in the Western New York community of education,” said Chadwick. “His energy and excitement toward the revitalization of urban education is a perfect fit with the passion of our faculty and students.”
