Canisius University will hold its 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on campus on Thursday, June 13, 2024. More information about the details of the day will be forthcoming. This year’s planning committee is Stephanie Masood, Shana Richardson, Fatima Rodriguez-Johnson, and Bennie Williams.

As we prepare for the planning of the days events, we invite the campus community to submit a proposal to present during the celebration. Our celebration will be a “Sankofa Day”. Sankofa teaches us the importance of the past to build the future. The committee is seeking proposals that highlight the significance of Juneteenth, focus on racial justice, equity and solidarity, and the rich cultural heritage of the African American community. Proposals should aim at honoring the legacy of the emancipation and promote understanding and solidarity.

Proposals can be submitted here and will be reviewed in May 2024.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Bennie Williams at willi100@canisius.edu.
