Blue & Gold Gala to Commemorate Canisius’ 150th Anniversary

The Canisius Board of Regents will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the college’s 1870 founding on Saturday, May 2, 2020 when it hosts Canisius 150: A Blue & Gold Gala at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.  Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m.; dinner is at 7:00 p.m. followed by a celebrity headliner performance by Grammy Award nominee and showman Tony Orlando.

Canisius 150: A Blue & Gold Gala is part of the college’s yearlong sesquicentennial celebration to mark 150 years of Jesuit education and leadership in the city of Buffalo and Western New York.  In addition to the headliner performance by Tony Orlando, valuable prize packages will be raffled off throughout the evening. Proceeds from the gala benefit Canisius Fund 150, the college’s sesquicentennial fundraising campaign, which supports the greatest needs of the college and its students. Click here to read more.

You Get a Grant! And You Get a Grant!

Special thanks to Tim Wadkins and Tom Chambers for sharing their experience with writing successful grant applications focused in the humanities, and how receiving grants has benefited them. Attendees received valuable information related to the grant process and how the sponsored programs office at Canisius can assist faculty interested in pursuing their research with grant funding.  In addition to this event, Mary Ann Langlois holds a monthly grant writing group meeting, which gives faculty the opportunity to discuss their research, receive valuable feedback from their peers and assistance submitting grant applications.  If you are interested in joining this group, please Email Mary Ann at langloim@canisius.edu for more information.

Extra! Extra!

The Office of College Communications has extra copies of Canisius 150 available for the campus community.

The magazine was recently published to commemorate the college’s sesquicentennial, and delivered to more than 43,000 Canisius alumni, faculty, staff, administrators and friends of the college. A small overrun left us with magazines to spare so if you or someone you know would like an extra copy for home, a friend or even to keep in your office suite for visitors to read, simply send an Email to ccmag@canisius.edu with your name and office location, and we’ll drop it in the mail for you.
