Buffalo Burrito Project

TK8A8295
Faculty, staff, family members, students and alumni are invited to join the Office of Campus Ministry and the Buffalo Burrito Project on Tuesday, June 27 and Tuesday, July 25.

The Burrito Project is a ministry of hospitality and provides homemade burritos to the marginalized and homeless population in downtown Buffalo. This ministry serves some of God’s most vulnerable and forgotten children.

Burritos will be prepared in the kitchen located in the undercroft of Christ the King Chapel from 6:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. From 7:15 p.m. – 8:45 p.m., the group will walk a four-mile route and serve burritos, snacks and cold drinks. A college van follows the team as we walk.  (Please note time change-we ask you to come to the Undercroft at 6:15pm and not at 6:00 pm as this time frame works best to serve those in need.)

You may choose to help prepare the burritos, prepare and serve or just serve. Most people prepare and serve.

To sign-up, email Joe Van Volkenburg at vanvolkj@canisius.edu with your name and cell number.

Celebrate Dianna Civello

The campus community is invited to a gathering on Wednesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. in Lyons 118 to congratulate and thank Dianna Civello for her 14 years of dedicated service to Canisius.  Please join the institutional advancement team as they wish Dianna the best of luck upon her retirement.  Light refreshments will be served.

Throughout her tenure, Dianna forged a vision and path for fundraising at the college.  As associate vice president for institutional advancement, Dianna was a driving force behind the college’s Legacy of Leadership campaign.  She leaves the college on a high note, raising more than $1,000,000 last fiscal year.

Dianna co-founded the Medical Advisory Board in 2004 and most recently founded the Women of Canisius in 2015.  She was inducted into the DiGamma Honor Society in 2008 for her service to the college, including the period when she stepped up to serve as interim vice president for institutional advancement.

Dianna will remain involved at Canisius coordinating guest speakers for the Pre-med Program.

The inaugural Urban Fruits & Veggies farmers market at Canisius was a big success!  The mobile farmers market rolled onto the Canisius campus this past Monday and sold out within an hour.  But don’t worry!  Increased inventory for next Monday’s market will ensure plenty of fruits and veggies for all.

The market sets up shop in the Bagen parking lot each Monday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. through October 16.  Please note Urban Fruits & Veggies will not be on campus July 3, September 4 and October 9 since the college is closed on those dates.

Urban Fruits & Veggies accepts cash, credit and debit cards and is open to anyone who wishes to purchase fresh produce or fruit.
