The Dome Resumes Daily Publication

The Dome will return to its daily publication schedule on the first day of classes, Monday, August 31. E-mailed to the campus community each morning, The Dome is your ‘one-stop-shop’ for news, information and events happening on campus.

If you would like to submit articles to The Dome, visit here. A reminder that all submissions must be in by 2:00 p.m. the previous day.

We also encourage faculty, staff and students to take photos and submit them to our popular Campus Candids section. Snap photos at special events or around campus – we want to see them all!

Classes Begin on August 31

Griffin pride runs strong as the fall 2015 semester gets underway. Here’s what you need to know as the first week of classes approaches:

Thursday, August 27

Move-In Day – Freshmen will be on campus from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. moving into Bosch, Frisch and Dugan residence halls. Student-athletes, members of student clubs and faculty and staff will assist students and parents throughout move-in day.

The Griffin Welcome Rally – The Canisius community will welcome new students and their parents from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center.

Monday August 31

The Griffin Welcome Walk – Don your blue and gold to welcome and cheer on students from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Koessler Plaza. See the story below for more information.

Zipline – Feeling adventurous? Go ziplining or play human foosball in the Bart Mitchell Quad from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Buffalo State Students on Campus

Be sure to give a welcoming smile to our guests, students from Buffalo State College, who will again be residing on the Canisius campus.  Canisius reached a leasing agreement to house Buffalo State students in the Main Humboldt Apartments and Campion Hall, as the school continues renovation of one of its residence halls.

Join the Second Annual Griffin Welcome Walk

Join the Office of Student Life on Monday, August 31 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in Koessler Plaza for the second annual Griffin Welcome Walk!

What is the Griffin Welcome Walk?
This is a special opportunity for faculty, staff, and student leaders to welcome our students as they make their way to their first classes. Participants will be showcasing their Griffin pride, handing out bottled water, breakfast treats, and offering words of encouragement!

What do I need to do?
Just show up! Meet the Office of Student Life representatives in the Koessler Plaza at 8:30 a.m. (you’ll know who we are…we’ve got SPIRIT). We’ll supply you with pom-poms, signs, blue and gold beads and more! Feel free to don your blue and gold!

Why should I participate?
This is an exclusive opportunity to be part of a Canisius campus tradition that our Canisius community looks forward to at the beginning of each year. We need YOU!

The FacTS Center Welcomes Back Faculty!

The FacTS Center, formerly the FacTS Center, has a few important reminders for faculty:

Checkbox, our online survey tool, will no longer be available after Wednesday, September 30. Checkbox users need to export and archive their Checkbox data, including surveys and survey results data, to another location by that time. This data will not be retrievable once Checkbox goes away.

You can access Qualtrics, the new, more user-friendly survey tool, by going to my.canisius.edu under “All Applications & Services,” and clicking the Qualtrics icon. The Office of Learning & Innovation will run workshops during the fall to help users get up and running in Qualtrics. For links to text and video tutorials and our workshop signup sheet, go to canisius.edu/surveys.

Please contact Mark Gallimore at Ext. 8353 with any questions regarding these survey tools.
