Dr. Ellen Conley Highlights List of Inductees to Sports Hall of Fame

Former Vice President for Student Affairs, Ellen O. Conley, PhD, highlights a great group of inductees into this year’s Sports Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies will take place at halftime of the women’s basketball contest this Sunday afternoon at the Koessler Athletic Center. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. against Iona College.

A pre-game lunch honoring this year’s class will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Montante Cultural Center. To secure reservations for the lunch and game, please call 888-2703.Total cost for the lunch and game is $25. Game tickets only are $5.

Joining Dr. Conley in this year’s class are former women’s basketball great Jenel Stevens and softball pitcher Veronica Maher.

In addition, Don and Pat McMahon will receive the Rev. Paul J. Dugan S.J. Award for their decades-long commitment to supporting Canisius athletics. Fr. Dugan is expected back on campus for the ceremonies.

Canisius College Faculty Show XIII

An opening reception for an exhibition featuring works by Canisius Fine Arts faculty will be held on Friday, January 30 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. in the Gallery at Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library. Exhibitors include Tom Wolf, David Miller, Rev. Michael Tunney S.J., Maria Pabico, and Katherine Sehr.

The exhibit runs through February 9 during regular library hours.

Second VPAA Search Forum Today and Finalist Evaluation Form Available Online

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

Please remember, a campus forum for the second of three finalists for the Vice President for Academic Affairs position will be held today at 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.

Dr. Sharon D. Nell, currently Dean for the School of Humanities and a professor of French at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, will present her thoughts on approaching the challenges facing higher education, generally, and more specifically, the issues most relevant to Canisius College.

The remaining finalist, William “Jeff” Welsh, PhD, currently Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education and Professor of History at Scranton University, Scranton, PA will present on the same topic at a one-hour forum on January 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.

Each of the candidates will present for 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session.

The position description, cover letters and CVs for the candidates are available for review on the myCanisius portal at the “VP Academic Affairs” link posted at the top, blue boarder of the portal’s main page. A web-based evaluation has also will been posted there for you to submit feedback on the candidates. Evaluation forms for each of the candidates will be open until 5:00 p.m. the day following the forum. 

Please consider attending the open session and completing the web-based evaluation.  Your input is very important to the search process.
