The Search Committee for the Vice President for Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that three finalists for the position have been selected to visit Canisius in the coming weeks for a series of interviews with members of the campus community.

The finalists are:

  • Margaret C. McCarthy, PhD, currently Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Graduate Education and Leadership at Canisius College
  • Sharon D. Nell, PhD, currently Dean of the School of Humanities and Professor of French at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX
  • William “Jeff” Welsh, PhD, currently Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education and Professor of History at Scranton University, Scranton, PA

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in the process and attend a one-hour forum with the candidates at the following times and locations:

  •   Dr. McCarthy – January 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Regis Room (South)
  •   Dr. Nell – January 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge
  •   Dr. Welsh – January 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge

Candidates have been asked to prepare a 20 minute presentation on their approach to issues and challenges in higher education with a particular focus on those most relevant to Canisius, followed by a Q&A session.

The position description, cover letters and CVs for the candidates are available for review on the myCanisius portal. A web-based evaluation also will be posted there for you to submit feedback on the candidates.
