Coloring Contest Entries on Display

This spring the ALANA Student Center, in association with the Afro American Society, Counseling Center, Office of Residence Life and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity (New York Lambda Chapter) sponsored an engaging student Coloring Contest for both undergraduate and graduate students. Sponsors received a total of 85 entries!

Buffalo’s African American Cultural Center in association with Outside the Box, also in Buffalo, judged the many stunning entries.

The three winning entries and 45 other entries are on temporary display in the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center lower level, near the CPLD office. Rev. Michael F. Tunney, S.J., professor of fine arts and director of mission and identity, selected the additional 42 entries on exhibition.

Visit this display and savor the stunning, creative colors. Posted also are the reasons given by Outside the Box for selecting each entry.

You can also visit the April/May 2014 Cultural Times Bulletin link on the announcement section of myCanisius to learn about the three winners and their entries.

Contest co-coordinators were Jen Kamish MS ’14, graduate assistant, ALANA Student Center (ASC) and Davona Mason MS ’14, graduate assistant, hall director, residence life. Special thanks to students Ikenna Alozie and Ekemini Umoren, both from Nigeria, for arranging and mounting the images on the tunnel wall. Thanks to student Marissa Floyd for her help as well!
