Deborah Abrahamson Reshapes Her Life at Biggest Loser Resort

Admissions Associate Deborah Abrahamson is a fan of “The Biggest Loser” reality TV show.  So when an opportunity arose for her to make a real, long-lasting lifestyle change, she jumped at the chance.

The college’s GrifFit Wellness Committee selected Debbie to spend an all-expense paid week at The Biggest Loser Resort in Java, NY – a nearly $3,000 value.  Debbie was selected based on an inspirational essay she wrote about why she wanted to attend the world-class health, wellness and weight-loss facility.

Throughout her one-week stay, Debbie followed a strict exercise regimen that included daily strength training, cardiovascular workouts, water aerobics, hiking and yoga.  She ate only low-calorie, high protein meals and attended daily lifestyle seminars, that focused on food-label reading, health management and meal planning.

By week’s end, Debbie lost two pounds of weight and two and a half pounds of body fat (which is the equivalent to 10 sticks of butter!).

“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself,” says Debbie, who has a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  “The time you spend there is less about losing weight and more about gaining confidence and changing your lifestyle so you can be the person you want to be versus the person you see in the mirror.”
