Candidates for VP of Business and Finance Coming to Campus

Walter Rusnak, the third and final candidate for the vice president of business and finance position, will visit the Canisius College campus today, Thursday, October 10. There will be an opportunity for the campus community to engage in conversation with Mr. Rusnak from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.

Information about the candidates is posted on the myCanisius portal under the “VP Business Finance Search” tab located on the gold banner across the top of the page. Visit schedules and evaluation forms for the candidates are also posted in this location.

Networking Event featuring George Palumbo, PhD.

The Masters Business Alumni Association (MBAA) to host speaker, George Palumbo, PhD in “The Western New York Economy and You” on Tuesday, November 12 from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in the Student Center. Cost is $5 per person

Palumbo is a professor of economics and finance at Canisius and co-author of the Western New York Economic News, an online publication that provides quarterly updates on issues related to the local, state and national economies. Palumbo will speak about the ways in which the economy is impacting each of us. He’ll discuss employment trends in the Buffalo market and identify regional strengths and weaknesses.

Dr. Sandra Estanek receives CSPA award

Sandra Estanek, PhD, professor and director of the College Student Personnel Administration Program, received the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession at the CSPA-NY award dinner in Rochester on Monday, October 7.

Nominated by Peg McCarthy, PhD and Brian Haggerty (past president, CSPA-NY), the association recognized Dr. Estanek for her many contributions to student personnel administration, including her current position as chairperson of the ACPA Credentialing Implementation Team. Among other substantial contributions,  Estanek is a founding member of the Association for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities and has twice served as its executive director. She has numerous publications to her credit and still finds time to be a dedicated and knowledgeable mentor to our many graduate students and alumni. Congratulations Sandy!
