Canisius will host a Women’s Leadership Conference on Tuesday, June 14 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.  The theme of this year’s event is “Creativity and Innovation.” The event will include educational workshops, a panel discussion with top women leaders, networking opportunities, two guest speakers and a women’s marketplace.

Janet Hanson, founder and CEO of 85 Broads, is the keynote speaker for the Women’s Leadership Conference.  85 Broads is a global network of more than 25,000 inspired, empowered and connected women worldwide.  During her talk, entitled “My Passion: Investing in Smart Women Globally,” Hanson will discuss why she invests in trailblazing women worldwide.

Teresa M. Amabile ’72, HON ’97, PhD will serve as the opening speaker.  Amabile is the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration in the Entrepreneurial Management Unit and director of research at the Harvard Business School (HBS).  During her talk, entitled, “The Progress Principle,” Amabile will reveal what really makes people happy, motivated, productive and creative at work.

In addition to the guest speakers, the conference will feature a series of educational workshops hosted by Canisius faculty.  The conference will also include a panel discussion, entitled “Create, Innovate, Collaborate: New Paths in Women’s Leadership,” in which top women leaders – and Canisius alumnae – share their personal experiences.
