Faculty, Staff Invited To Serve With Campus Ministry

Faculty and staff are invited to join the Office of Campus Ministry and the Buffalo Burrito Project (Homeless Ministry) on Tuesday, July 27 and August 24.

The Buffalo Burrito Project provides fresh home-made burritos to Buffalo’s poor and homeless population in downtown Buffalo.  The group walks a four-mile route and serves between 80-120 burritos (a support vehicle follows the street team as they walk).  Campus Ministry has committed to serve three Tuesday evenings this summer, and needs help to prepare burritos and walk the route in downtown Buffalo.  This past academic year, Canisius students engaged weekly in the Buffalo Burrito Project.

To sign up and for more information on this initiative, click here or contact Joe Van Volkenburg, assistant to the director of campus ministry at Ext. 2875 or vanvolkj@canisius.edu.

NFTA Rate, Zone Change Coming September 1

Effective Wednesday, September 1, 2010, NFTA-Metro is instituting a new one-price fare policy and the elimination of zones.

The new Metro Advantage All System Monthly Pass will cost $64.  Also, NFTA-Metro is eliminating zones which means that monthly pass customers can ride anywhere Metro’s system travels in Erie and Niagara Counties.  The pass will allow unlimited use on the bus or rail system seven days a week.

Employees that were paying $77 per month for an all-zone pass will now pay $64.  Those that purchased single zone monthly passes will continue to pay $64 but can now use the entire bus/rail system at no additional cost.

Passes may be ordered through Kathy Kelly in Human Resources at Ext. 2240 or kelly7@canisius.edu.
