Employee Engagement Team Invitation

The Employee Engagement Team will begin to meet again this fall semester to discuss opportunities to enhance the work environment at Canisius College.  At this time, we are currently looking for additional members from the campus community to join the discussions.

As part of the team, representatives from divisions across campus participate in valuable discussions to talk about individual and departmental experiences, concerns and opportunities related to improving the employee experience. The team will continue to focus on engagement initiatives to build a one-campus community through the improvement of communication and collaboration. The outcomes of these discussions will be reviewed with the college’s Senior Leadership Team.

Linda Walleshauser, associate vice president for human resources and compliance, invites you to participate on the team by contacting Bethany Voorhees, executive associate to President John Hurley, at voorheeb@canisius.edu.

The first meeting will be held in September, so stay tuned for the meeting date announcement.  We look forward to sharing and hearing your ideas!

D2L Dropping Support for Legacy Browsers

D2L is ending support for various legacy (older versions of) web browsers.

You may see a message similar to the image above, stating that the browser you are using is no longer supported and asking you to update your browser or download a different browser.

The fix is simple: update your browser. You can do a web search similar to “how do I update YourWebBrowser” to find the instructions to update your browser.

Also, note that Internet Explorer and Legacy Edge users will not be able to access D2L unless they update to a newer version of Edge or download a new web browser.

New Grade Screen for D2L Discussions

In this month’s updates, D2L is letting instructors try out a new grade screen to assess student contributions to D2L Discussions. The new screen (image above) should make it easier to view and grade student posts and is similar to the new Dropbox Grade Screen that was mentioned in this COLI Post.

If you are interested in trying out this new grade screen, you will be prompted to opt-in when you go to grade students’ posts for a discussion topic. The new screen will become available for opt-in later this month.

If you are interested in attaching an assessment to D2L Discussions, please view this video.
