Canisius President John J. Hurley released a statement on behalf of the Movement to Restore Trust (MRT) on Tuesday, December 1, welcoming the appointment of Bishop Michael W. Fisher as the 15th Bishop of Buffalo. In the statement, President Hurley pledged that MRT would work with the new Bishop and the Diocesan Renewal Task Force, which is tasked with reimagining the parishes and schools, and the life of the Church. President Hurley’s statement appeared in The Buffalo News. It can be read here.

CNN interviewed Assistant Professor of Journalism Daniel Higgins about his Thanksgiving plans. Despite the “different” holiday this year, Higgins and others shared how they planned to celebrate.

Canisius Professor and Alumni Author Book on American Constitutional Rights

Peter J. Galie, PhD, emeritus professor of political science at Canisius College and alumni Christopher Bopst ’95 and Bethany (Siena) Kirschner ’07 co-authored Bills of Rights Before the Bill of Rights: Early State Constitutions and the American Tradition of Rights 1776 – 1790.

The book is the first to provide a full and systematic commentary on the rights provisions found in early American state constitutions.

Connecting with Canisius: A Lunch and Learn Webinar Series

Connect with Canisius during its next virtual lunch and learn series. 

The third webinar, titled “Diversity and Inclusion at Canisius College,” will take place on Thursday, December 10 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. 

The webinar will feature Fatima Rodriguez Johnson MS ’98, associate dean for diversity and inclusion at Canisius. It will be moderated by Patrick Eugeni ’21, a biology major at Canisius and president of the Undergraduate Student Association (USA), and alumnus Robert Maloney ’71, a member of the Canisius College Board of Trustees.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
