The Institute for Classical and Medieval Studies (ICMS) presents two new Lifelong Learners Courses for spring 2020. Beginning this Thursday afternoon, January 30, and continuing for six weeks, is Jesus: From Messiah to God. From 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in Science Hall 1017, Drs. Rebecca Krawiec and Matthew Mitchell, of the Religious Studies and Theology Department, will examine the Jewish beliefs about Messiahs and Saviors leading to the views of Jesus in the four Gospels of the New Testament. They will then look at the social implications of teaching a divine Jesus versus traditional Roman notions of the human and divine. The course concludes with the Council of Nicea and the controversies surrounding a fully divine Son of God. Register through the ICMS website here.
