Mary Wilson, life trustee of the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, came to Canisius on Tuesday, January 28 to meet with the newly-named Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Scholars. The scholarships are named after the late owner of the Buffalo Bills and awarded annually to academically deserving Canisius student-athletes from Western New York and Southern Ontario.
This year’s recipients are: Madison Chapin ’21 (swimming), Alexander Kunes ’21 (swimming), Morgan Farman ’22 (swimming), and Michael Maurer ’22 (swimming).
After her meeting, Mary Wilson invited the Canisius students to accompany her to the History Museum where she was headed to deliver a replica of Ralph Wilson’s Hall of Fame bust.
The Human Resources Department is pleased to announce that Mary Fiorella is the Canisius College Employee of Distinction for December 2019! At Canisius for more than six years, Mary currently works as the administrative associate for the Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation Department.
Mary has been a key asset to the department. She keeps things running smoothly by seamlessly juggling all her tasks but also takes on extra projects – always with a smile on her face. Additionally, Mary embodies the value of cura personalis with faculty, staff and students, alike, because she genuinely cares about the needs of each person. Overall, Mary has managed to make the department a better place to work, which is greatly appreciated by her colleagues and all who come in contact with her.

The Canisius women’s basketball team’s annual Dads and Daughters Day is scheduled for 2 pm Saturday afternoon when your Golden Griffins host Saint Peter’s in the Koessler Athletic Center.
All tickets and concession selections are only $1.00, while selected items at the merchandise table will also sell for only a buck. In addition, the first 150 daughters to attend the game will receive a free Golden Griffin water bottle.

Student applications for the 2020-21 Canisius Earning Excellence Program (CEEP) awards can be submitted on Friday, January 31 through Friday, February 21.
What is CEEP?
The Canisius Earning Excellence Program awards students with funding for intellectually demanding projects that create opportunities for applied learning outside the classroom. The work completed through this program is closely related to a career or scholarly field and directly related to faculty scholarship. By working alongside faculty on research-focused projects, students are able to achieve a high level of preparedness for maintaining professional working relationships and for continued studies at the graduate level.
What are the requirements?
A 3.3 or higher GPA is required for all applicants. College policy prevents students from receiving both CEEP and federal work-study during the academic year. Students may receive CEEP in the summer and work-study during the fall and spring or vice versa but not both during the same semester. The hourly rate for CEEP 2020-21 projects is $12.50 and students may apply for a maximum of 150 hours.
How can a student apply?
More information and current online applications (opening on Friday, January 31) are available on the Academic Affairs page on the myCanisius portal. Students will also receive an email notification with details regarding the application process. Please note, current CEEP award recipients interested in continuing their project next year will need to fill out new applications for the 2020-21 award. Renewal is not automatic.
