Peter Canisius, the Humanities and Jesuit Education
Rev. Brian Dunkle, SJ, returns to Canisius for lecture on theological scholarship
Rev. Brian P. Dunkle, SJ, will return to Canisius today, Monday, March 5, 2018, to celebrate the upcoming establishment of the Institute for Classical and Medieval Studies at Canisius. Father Dunkle will provide a brief lecture, entitled “Peter Canisius, the Humanities and Jesuit Education,” at 7:00 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge. The event is free and open to the public.
Father Dunkle may be familiar to many on campus, as he spent several years as a resident of Loyola Hall and a member of the Classics Department. He is currently an assistant professor of historical theology in the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College. Father Dunkle also recently published the well-received book Enchantment and Creed in the Hymns of Ambrose of Milan (Oxford UP 2017).
We are delighted he has agreed to spend a few days with us at Canisius to share his thoughts on Jesuit education and theological scholarship.

Headline: Support Student International Service-Immersion Experiences
Subhead: Attend the annual RAISE Benefit
Campus Ministry’s annual RAISE Benefit will take place this Wednesday, March 7, Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9, 2018. RAISE directly benefits the 25 team members going on service-immersion experiences this summer in Poland, with the Mustard Seed Community in Jamaica, and with the Kino Border Initiative on the U.S./Mexico border.
Basket raffles, 50-50 tickets, silent auction items (including a 3-hour photo session with Tom Wolf), grilled cheese/soup lunch, and a bake sale will be available in the OM second floor lounge, next Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-4pm, and Friday from 10am-2pm. Other items include tennis lessons, handmade blankets, swing dance lessons, massages, restaurant gift certificates and babysitting.
Our basket and silent auction items will then move to the Montante Cultural Center on Friday, March 9 from 5-8pm for our RAISE Benefit dinner. Live music, delicious food and drink from Chartwells Dining, and the raffles will be available. Tickets for this dinner are $25 for adults, $10 for students and children over 10, and free for children 10 and under. There is also a package deal for 4 adult tickets for $75.
Tickets are available in Campus Ministry, OM 207 and at the door.
