Ignatian Scholarship Day is Tomorrow!

Canisius College will hold its sixth annual Ignatian Scholarship Day tomorrow (April 19) from 10:00 a.m – 3:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Winter Student Center, Christ the King Chapel, Bouwhuis Library Conference Room and other campus venues. This event is a celebration that showcases the research, scholarship, and performances of our undergraduate and graduate students through poster displays, oral paper presentations, multimedia presentations, two or three-dimensional art, or artistic performances (poetry, drama, vocal or instrumental music) throughout the day, as well as a concert by the Canisius College Concert Chorale in Montante Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. to wrap-up the day.

Canisius Chorale Caps Ignatian Scholarship Day With Concert Gala

In the midst of its five-concert tour of Western New York, the Canisius Chorale will return home to the Montante Center for a special Ignatian Scholarship Day Concert on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m.

The performance is free and open to all, and will feature works of Vivaldi, Prastorius, Dawson, Hogan, and others. Joining the Chorale, will be the college’s very own “CrescenDONT’s.”

WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge

Canisius College will host the WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge on Thursday, April 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.  The event, which is sponsored by the WNY Consortium of Higher Education, is free and open to the public.

The WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge is a Western New York Regional Business Plan Competition where undergraduate and graduate students from local colleges and universities compete for more than $225,000 in prize money. Three teams from Canisius College will participate in the competition. In the summer of 2013, a number of WNY winners will be offered the opportunity to incubate their businesses for up to a year on their home campuses.

Each team will have 10 minutes to pitch their plan, followed by five minutes of Q&A with a panel of judges. The purpose of the competition is to promote entrepreneurship between student teams in the following six categories:

  • Biotechnology/Healthcare
  • Energy/Sustainability
  • Information Technology/Software
  • Nanotechnology/Advanced Software
  • Product/Services
  • Social Entrepreneurship/Non-Profit

Middle States Vice President to Visit April 23

On Tuesday, April 23, Dr. Ellie Fogarty, vice president of the Middle States Commission of Higher Education, will visit campus to meet with various members of the college community. There will be scheduled meetings with targeted groups of faculty and staff, and an open Meeting for all Canisius community members. At 3:30 p.m., Dr. Fogarty will meet with faculty, staff, and students in Regis North. Please bring any questions you have about accreditation and Middle States.

ANGEL Course Merge Requests

Are you interested in having your courses merged in ANGEL for the summer or fall 2013 semesters? (Merge means that you combine two or more sections of a course into one). If the answer is yes, simply submit an email to helpdesk@canisius.edu. In the E-mail, include the following:

Instructor name- first and last (example Sunny Day)
Courses to be merged- course code and course number (example EDC 121 and EDC 234)
