Anyone interested in learning more from your peers about the types of things you can do with the iPad or other tablet products and smartphones are welcome. If you don’t have a tablet; no problem. Ask our group for their experiences to help make the right decision on what you might be looking for. Remember, Christmas is just around the corner. So find out what to tell that special Santa in your life.

The iPad Users Group meets on the second Friday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in Science Hall 1017. The purpose of this group is to share and explore the use of mobile devices on campus and off. This group is open to faculty and staff and for anyone using mobile technology or planning to do so. The group is moderated by Scott Clark and Joe Rizzo but is driven by the participants. Learn about applications, uses in education, changes in mobile technology, and the fundamentals of mobile technology.

The Flu

THE FACTS: The flu season in the US is off to its earliest start in nearly a decade. Higher than normal reports of the flu have come from several southern states. Such an uptake doesn’t usually occur till after Christmas.

THE GOOD NEWS:
1. More than 1/3 of Americans have already been vaccinated. Hopefully, you are included in this group.
2. The vaccine formulated for this year appears to be well matched to the strain of the virus. This is not always the case.

PREVENTION:
1. If you have not already done so, get your flu shot ASAP.
2. Wash your hands frequently, or use alcohol-based hand wipes.
3. Keep your hands away from your mouth, eyes and nose.
4. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
5. Exercise, maintain a regular sleep pattern and eat properly.
6. Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze.
